Hutchinson Builders, established in 1912, is Queensland’s largest privately owned building company. Hutchies, as it is affectionately known by staff, sub-contractors and the industry generally, is a company which has been known and respected within the State’s building scene for four generations. Hutchies is a company built on the traditional family values of integrity, honesty and adherence to the credo ‘a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work’.

We celebrated our 95th anniversary in 2007 and have a collective pride in knowing that we have given almost a century of service to Queensland.

To endure over a period of time that has included two world wars, the great depression and the travails of the state of the Australian economy is testament to the company's commitment, expertise and integrity.

Hutchinson Builders now has an annual turnover approaching the $1 billion mark and employs more than 900 staff, Our portfolio of projects is as diverse in purpose as they are in location.

Over the years, projects undertaken by the company have included warehouses, offices, retail outlets, private schools, churches, hospitals, industrial buildings, tourist attractions and, more recently, housing.

While the company's focus has been in Queensland we have, in recent years established offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and have undertaken international projects in New Zealand, Canada and Japan.

Headquartered in Brisbane Australia, the Hutchinson Builders branch office network is a legacy of Jack Hutchinson Snr, who guided the direction of Hutchinson Builders for many years as Managing Director and Chairman. In 1992, Jack shifted his focus to his role as Chairman of the Board making way for his son Scott, a Bachelor of Engineering Graduate, to take over as Managing Director. Scott has been responsible for expanding the business significantly since taking the reins.

Jack retired from active day to day duties as Chairman in October 2001, although he still retains a prominent interest in the business. Following Jack's retirement, Scott was appointed Chairman of the Board and Greg Quinn was appointed Managing Director - the first non-family member to hold the position.

Greg joined Hutchinson’s after 17 years with the Queensland and NSW Master Builders’ Association. He was Executive Director of both organisations.

Scott Hutchinson and Greg Quinn are working closely together with the entire team to take Hutchies into its second century. From its beginning as a one man operation in 1912,
