Hutchinson Builders was established in 1912 and has now surpassed 100 years in the industry.
As one of Australia’s largest privately-owned construction companies Hutchinson Builders has a proud heritage and a record of proud achievements over a century of service to the construction industry in Australia.
We consider that the keys to our success are to be found in a ‘no compromise’ attitude to the fundamental family values of integrity and respect that we have forged over the past 100 years. These are values that have come from an era past but are values that we jealously defend to this day.
The company has a respect for all stakeholders in our business including staff (grown to a number more than 1300) and their families, suppliers, sub-contractors, regulators, trade unions and the media. The company seeks at all times to be ‘non-adversarial’ and will work tirelessly to achieve an outcome. We believe that the respect we have for stakeholders has been repaid many times over in the last century where respect for our company is evident across Australia.
Our commitment to training (we have more than 150 apprentices and 20 cadets) is an award-winning commitment and has paid the company significant dividends over the years. Many of our current team leaders and managers commenced their careers as apprentices with Hutchinson Builders. Our training programs incorporate a ‘future leaders’ component where we inculcate the values of integrity and respect in our young people.
Our strong balance sheet and our ability to be agile in decision-making and mobilisation of effort has enabled us to weather two world wars, the depression and numerous other economic downturns as well as paradigm shifts in technology, transport and organisational management styles over the past 100 years.
Now with offices form Cairns to Hobart, Sydney to Perth and the Bowen Basin to the Pilbara, Hutchinson Builders is proud of its contribution to the Australian construction industry over the past century and is working diligently to consolidate the foundations for the next 100 years.
