Project Overview

A fresh new re-development of the Kings Parking station on the corner of Albert and Margaret Streets Brisbane that involved the refurbishment of the existing 9 storey car- park, with a further 13 storeys of commercial office space being built on top of this structure.

Challenges

Construction involved the complete back- propping of nine levels and installation of new columns, new lift core and new foundations to support the above levels. The building consists of more than 18,000m2 of NLA achieving a 4 Star Green Star Design Rating and a 4.5 Star ABGR Rating.

The inner city location of the structure and a combination of demolition of components and retention of others made this a complex job where stability was always a major objective.

Success Factors

The end result is a functional building with high levels of aesthetic value featured as part of the urban landscape of the Brisbane CBD.

Value Added

The need for contemporary and innovative construction methodologies was very much part of the entire building process throughout this project.
A target of 4 star green star rating was achieved with the achievement of a 4.5 star ABGR rating. This increased the attractiveness and value of the building as an outstanding environmentally sustainable development.
