Project Overview
Dee Why RSL Club has served the Sydney North Shore Community for over 60 years, and continues to do so with their Ocean Grove development which consists of 76 Senior Living Apartments. The Apartments are divided into three separate blocks with independent lifts for each block. The facility provides secure parking, acoustic treatment for traffic noise, modern and well appointed internal finishes, well landscaped gardens all complimenting the extensive Common facilities, including Library, Lounge area, Billiard room, Conference rooms, Hobby room, Wellness and Fitness Centre and more, making Oceangrove a community favoured by all.
Success Factors
Initial success was measured on the speed and efficiency of the project restart. Within a short period of 3 weeks the key subcontractors had re-established and recommenced work on site. Hutchinson Builders were able to provide certainty on the final contract sum and completion date to the Client and Financiers. Effective management of existing subcontractors and the Industrial matters was also a key to a successful restart on the project.
Challenges
Hutchinson Builders were asked to participate on the Ocean Grove project following the demise of the previously appointed builder and formworker. The structure was 50 percent complete and hampered by uncertainty amongst subcontractors and workforce. Hutchinson with the assistance and commitment from the Dee Why RSL Club were able to recommence site works only 3 weeks following the site closure, utilising many of the previous trades who were all relieved at the rapid restart.
