We're COVIDSafe

Hutchies has developed plans and measures to keep people, sites and offices COVIDSafe as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. We continue to monitor the developing situation closely and adjust our measures as necessary to ensure we minimise the risk of exposure, while complying with all authority requirements.

Our response

Construction has remained an essential service in most parts of Australia and Hutchies continues to operate across the country in full compliance with all federal and regional requirements, including current restrictions in Victoria and South Australia.

Our Keeping People Safe Plan outlines the requirements that are in place across all of our sites and offices to educate everyone on the risks of COVID-19 and prevent the spread.

We have also established a dedicated coronavirus information page on our Subbies Toolbox which contains the latest advice and resources to maintain our COVIDSafe workplaces.

On our projects

We have implemented several measures on our projects:

  • Everyone must agree to our COVIDSafe Declaration upon entry
  • Constant communication, signage and posters to remind everyone of their personal responsibilities
  • Additional PPE, hand washing facilities and hand sanitiser stations throughout
  • Extra cleaning regimes undertaken throughout the day of shared areas, high touch points and tools
  • Spread out or extra shared spaces such as lunch rooms and amenities, and ground markings in queuing areas to promote social distancing
  • Staggered start, lunch and finish times to reduce numbers moving and meeting around sites at the same time
  • One way stairs where possible and reduced numbers in hoists / lifts
  • Weekly COVIDSafe Checklist by a dedicated COVIDSafe Champion to ensure all measures are correctly implemented and continuously maintained

In our offices and yards

All of Hutchies' offices and yards have implemented similar measures:

  • Everyone must agree to our COVIDSafe Declaration upon entry
  • Flexible working arrangements where possible to minimise the number of people in our workplaces
  • Extra cleaning regimes undertaken throughout the day of shared areas, high touch points and tools
  • Reduced numbers in meeting rooms and common areas to promote social distancing
  • Improved digital tools to encourage remote meetings and minimise travel
  • Weekly COVIDSafe Checklist by a dedicated COVIDSafe Champion to ensure all measures are correctly implemented and continuously maintained
