Hutchies is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Cost Planner / Estimator to join our hard working team based in our Toowong office on a full time permanent basis.

This role will report to the Team Leader and Principal Construction Lead (Construction Manager & Project Manager).

The primary objective of the Senior Cost Planner / Estimator is to plan / coordinate estimating and related functions to maintain technical standards and maximise success in tendering. 

This role will coordinate and lead multiple project team(s) on tender bids to ensure individuals are made aware of their roles and responsibilities throughout tenders and cost planning.

#Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the tender / bid process
  • Communicate and liaise with key internal stakeholders
  • Provide accurate preliminary cost advice for feasibility studies in major projects capturing all technical requirements
  • Developing accurate detailed cost plans and estimates in major projects capturing all technical requirements
  • Liaise with external consultants, quantity surveyors, architects, and other contractors to maintain and achieve project budget
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors
  • Review and analyse subcontractor pricing
  • Review and identify risks and opportunities with the tender / bid team
  • Prepare project returnable schedules and tender summaries with the submissions team
  • Participate in post construction reviews and contractors’ performance appraisals
  • Assist with pricing of complex variations
  • Analysis of actual vs estimated costs to better understand the reasons for variance

#Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in construction or quantity surveying
  • At least 10 years post graduate experience cost planning and estimating
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skill
  • Strong knowledge of market rates, construction techniques, and industry standards
  • Proficient in quantity take off in CostX
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate estimates and proposals at various project design stages within strict deadlines
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
