In a move that's equal parts tribute and time capsule, Hutchies’ Chairman Scott Hutchinson is giving one of Brisbane's most iconic cars a new home - on top of the print room at Hutchies' Toowong office.
The original FX Holden driven by the legendary Rock 'n' Roll George will soon overlook the city streets he once cruised almost daily, music blaring and windows down.
For four decades between 1952 to 2008, George Kyprios – better known as Rock 'n' Roll George – was a fixture of Brisbane’s CBD, circling Queen Street Mall in his beloved Holden, becoming a local legend simply by showing up, day after day, with a rock 'n' roll soundtrack and a smile.
Scott, a lifelong champion of Brisbane’s music and cultural history, has preserved both the original car and a working replica. Now, by installing the original vehicle atop Hutchies’ Toowong office, he’s turning a piece of Brisbane folklore into a permanent landmark.

ScottHutchinson,Chairman"This isn’t just about a car," Scott says. "It’s about remembering the characters who gave Brisbane its colour. George didn’t set out to be famous – he just loved music, loved driving, and became part of the city’s identity."
The office installation is more than a quirky display – it’s a celebration of Brisbane’s grassroots culture and the people who shaped it. It also reflects Scott’s deep commitment to preserving the city’s creative spirit, from supporting live music venues to honouring local legends like George.
As the FX Holden takes its place in the heart of Hutchies' office, it’s not just a nod to the past – it’s a reminder that Brisbane’s story is still being written, one beat (and one burnout) at a time.
