Weeks to build
The 6,000m² multi-staged office fit-out of six levels in the iconic ‘Blue Tower’ at 12 Creek Street in the Brisbane CBD required careful logistics and materials handling management, including meticulous planning around deliveries at the shared access point. Hutchinson Builders worked closely with the design team in the early stages of the project to develop a range of value management options that optimised available budget while maintaining a high level of quality in all aspects. Additional complexities included the coordination of a team of contractors involved in detailed design, as well as planning associated with specific items sourced from overseas.
The new workplace features a public floor for formal client interface, including reception, a suite of meeting rooms and flexible training rooms. Typical floors were designed with a reduction in private offices to increase communication, natural light access, efficiency and collaboration in the new office.
A focused zone of built environment around the core and western facade includes all the fixed, built-in facilities such as offices, meeting rooms, shared quiet spaces, utilities and staff kitchens. Shared breakout spaces are positioned to take advantage of the best views towards the Brisbane River, and each level has been given its own identity which has been expressed through different finishes and furnishings.
Under a separate contract, Hutchinson Builders also refurbished one of the basement levels in the same building to deliver a state-of-the-art end of trip facility.
