Cyclone standards

The cutting-edge brand new, purpose built Atherton Community Education, Training & Disaster Coordination Centre provides world-class facilities to the region. The design and building services ensure resistance in a category 5 cyclone for the local emergency response coordination. This includes a backup generator, security access and government standard communication systems in emergencies.

It includes a state-of-the-art disaster coordination room, call centre, radio room, conference room, SES day room and emergency services and council executive offices. Personal lockers with showers, kitchen facilities and dining areas are also included. Along with specialist training areas and meeting rooms also incorporated are comms room, storeroom, plant room and emergency generator room. 

Overall the build has consists of 900 square meters of single level concrete slab on ground and complex block wall angled corridors. The roof structure is built using a metal frame and purlins, metal sheet roofing and 19mm plywood sheeting between purlins and roof sheeting. 

External architectural features include special prefinished timber grain finish aluminum perforated window protection screens. The site includes parking areas totaling 1344 square meters with featuring covered car parking.
