Helping keep sport and community at the heart of Rockhampton.
Hutchies has completed the Browne Park Stadium Western Grandstand redevelopment, helping transform one of Queensland’s most historic rugby league venues into a modern, multi-use community asset.
The project included the construction of a new three-level, single-tier western grandstand with roof cover and 3,253 seats. The grandstand is designed to improve comfort, accessibility and the overall match-day experience for players, officials and spectators.

The ground level includes four universally designed change rooms, new amenities and support spaces. Throughout the concourse, the team has delivered food, bar and kiosk areas, along with storage, cleaner rooms and back-of-house service enclosures.
The upper levels house function rooms and corporate suites with verandas, alongside new media, broadcast and coaching facilities. The project also includes new administration offices for the Central Queensland Capras, Queensland Rugby League and the Department of Sport, Racing, Olympic & Paralympic Games.
Works extend beyond the grandstand footprint, with upgrades to surrounding footpaths, fencing, vehicle servicing areas and essential services. This includes stormwater, water, sewer, electrical and telecommunications infrastructure. Lifts provide accessible movement to all levels of the new structure

Building on Browne Park’s legacy
With more than 130 years of rugby league history, Browne Park is a cornerstone of the Rockhampton community. This redevelopment replaces the former Jack Crow Stand and sets the foundation for a long-term master plan that will significantly expand the venue’s capacity and capability.
Once all stages are complete, Browne Park will accommodate up to 10,000 spectators for sporting events, with the flexibility to host up to 18,000 people for concerts and major events. This positions the venue as a year-round destination that supports sport, culture and regional economic growth.
The project was designed by Cox Architecture, in collaboration with local partner Design+Architecture, and delivered by Hutchies in partnership with the Queensland Government for the people of Central Queensland.

Trusted experience in Queensland sport
Hutchies has a long history of delivering sporting and community venues across Queensland – from regional grounds to elite training and competition facilities.
Our experience includes projects such as the Brighton Homes Arena for the Brisbane Lions, the Clive Berghofer Centre for the Brisbane Broncos, and the Hutchinson Builders Centre of Excellence for the North Queensland Cowboys.
Each project reflects our understanding of live venues, community use and long-term legacy. It’s experience built over decades, working alongside government, sporting bodies and local communities to deliver places people are proud to use.

Proudly delivered by our regional Cooly and Rocky teams
This project was completed as a joint venture between Hutchies’ Coolangatta team, working in partnership with our Rockhampton office.
Together, the teams brought strong local knowledge, established relationships and a clear understanding of what Browne Park means to the region. Their collaboration reflects Hutchies’ ability to mobilise regional teams and deliver projects right across Queensland.
Strong leadership on the ground ensured the project was delivered with care, collaboration and respect for the community it serves. It’s a result the teams, the client and the wider Rockhampton community can all be proud of.
