A purpose-built operations centre supporting fast, reliable emergency response across a growing region.
Hutchies delivered the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Coomera Operations Centre for the Department of Housing and Public Works, QBuild. Designed by Architectus, the facility strengthens QAS capability in one of Queensland’s fastest-growing regions. It provides a future-ready dispatch environment that supports reliable emergency response.
The 1,700 m² facility spans two levels. The ground floor includes communal areas, meeting rooms and open-plan offices. It also houses critical infrastructure, including communications rooms, the main switchboard and UPS systems. Level 1 forms the operational core, with 42 dispatch desks and supervisory positions, supported by management and administration spaces.

We built the centre beside a live ambulance station, which remained fully operational throughout the project. Careful planning and coordination ensured no disruption to daily emergency services.
The project delivers strong long-term value through resilience and reliability. Redundant power and communications systems support continuity during faults or outages. This allows QAS to maintain critical services and respond with confidence.
The team achieved further value through early prototyping and practical installation methods. Full-scale workstation prototypes reduced rework and confirmed ergonomic and operational requirements early. A tailored cranage approach for large console units protected completed finishes and improved installation efficiency.
The result is a robust, efficient facility designed to meet the demands of emergency call taking and dispatch.
