Weeks to build

This project involved the construction of a new ambulance station and the demolition of the existing ambulance station in Kingaroy. The new buildings comprised a plant room, including wash bay, bulk store, PCS store and laundry, as well as a multi-purpose training room, offices, kitchen,  locker room, recharge & write up areas. To offer a level of seclusion to the personnel Hutchies constructed relief quarters separate to the main building.  A solar hot water system and solar panels were also incorporated in the works.

Despite various unforeseen delays the Kingaroy Ambulance Station was handed over on time and within budget, with the finished product successfully meeting the requirements of involved stakeholders and ambulance staff. Delays in the construction programme were incurred due to the presence of latent asbestos in the existing building. Hutchinson Builders worked efficiently as a team to remove the asbestos in a safe manner. Further delays ensued in the bulk earthworks due to moisture affected ground and various buried objects. Hutchies dealt with these issues promptly, resulting in no extensions of time claimed.
