Weeks to build

Hutchies teamed up with the Queensland Fire Department (QFD) and QBuild to deliver a new fire station for the Toowoomba Region.

The new facility spans 550m² and includes a 204m² Engine Bay fitted with six motorised roller doors, allowing easy access for up to three fire trucks. A separate 434m² vehicle storage shed includes a garden shed and an outdoor training area, with a ladder drill platform positioned above the Engine Bay – making training a key feature of the site.

Early works involved the safe removal of two piles of contaminated materials, which were cleared and certified before construction began. Stormwater and water services were connected across Cambooya Street, requiring a road closure. The team secured all permits and completed the works within a week.

Designed to be both practical and visually striking, the station features bold red roller doors, street-visible signage, custom orb cladding, and Trimdek roofing – ensuring it will serve the community for decades to come.

The project received glowing feedback from QFD, marking one of the most positive client responses in recent memory. It’s a testament to the strong partnership between Hutchies, QBuild, QFD, and the local community.
