Weeks to build
Hutchies is proud to deliver Maraona Regional Council with the Roma Saleyard project one month ahead of schedule. The works consisted of an administration building, canteen, multi-purpose building, an interactive centre, a civil carpark and a sales arena.
The three new buildings have been constructed using a suspended slab design, which is supported by bored piers and columns. A structural steel webbed truss design on steel columns provides the skeleton of the buildings along with blockwork and precast panels. A variety of architectural features have been used to create the remainder of the build which include beautiful corten cladding, timber look blade screening, laser-cut angular screening with integrated signage, designer blockwork, architectural balustrade and public art sculpture.
The construction of the bull arena required meticulous planning to ensure the arena was effective and efficient. This resulted in a tiered seat design in an octagonal shape, with an elevated bull parade area and auctioneer podium. A large video display and cameras were installed around the ring enabling agents around the saleyard the ability to watch the sale and give the option for online streaming sale applications.
Throughout the project Hutchies offered 230K worth of value management through general finishes selections and civil car park redesign to alternate fixtures.
