Hutchies is proud to deliver the new sports and wellness precinct for Sacred Heart College in Newtown, Victoria.
The project involved demolishing the old O’Dwyer Centre and re-building a new two storey precinct that includes a multipurpose stadium with two courts, retractable tiered seating and modern amenities.
The upper level focuses on student wellbeing. It includes dedicated spaces for dance, yoga, meditation, and art therapy, along with versatile work pods to support the College’s holistic wellness programs.

The initial stage consisted of the Sacred Heart wellness centre and landscaping works that connect the existing College facilities within the new wellness precinct.
A key milestone was handing over the Sports and Wellness building, known as Separable Portion 01 (SP01), in time for Day 1 of Term 1, 2026. We delivered it on schedule so students and teachers could use the facility from the first day of the school year.

The second stage of works – now underway – includes the demolition of the old Mercy House (excluding the adjoining chapel), construction of a new maintenance facility, external landscaping works, and a labyrinth garden and outdoor space inspired by Indigenous planting.

This project supports Sacred Heart College’s goal to create contemporary learning environments that promote physical health, wellbeing and strong education outcomes for Victorian students.
