Matso'sBrewery

Matso’s Brewery is a new life for the heritage-listed Joe’s Waterhole in Eumundi.

Hutchies’ local Sunshine Coast team was engaged to create Matso’s newest brewery whilst retaining and refurbishing this classic 1920s Queensland pub and providing modern facilities. The design adopts a simple material and colour palette to neatly integrate the old and new spaces together, while celebrating the proud history of the site.

Four large gable pavilions expand the venue with a ‘shed’ like appearance, complementing the existing heritage structure. The new addition provides purpose built space for the brewery, restaurant, beer garden and landscaped outdoor spaces. 

Sustainability was a key focus, with a priority on reusing as much of the existing building materials as possible. Recycled furniture was used to create the seating, high tables, handrails and shelving. We were also able to source excess concrete from nearby construction sites to minimise waste in transport and unused material.
