The Reading Cinemas at Newmarket is a welcoming new addition to this established neighbourhood shopping centre. Built more than a decade before, Newmarket Village is home to a Coles Supermarket, the Newmarket Hotel and more than 30 specialty stores. It has become quite a hub for the northern Brisbane suburbs.

Located on the corner of Enoggera Road and Edmonstone Street, above an existing basement carpark for the centre, the project includes the construction of a state-of-the-art Reading Cinema, a new dining precinct featuring approximately 10,000m2 of built area including food and beverage retail, additional car parking and improvements to amenities in the existing center. The new development will add an additional 7 new stores as well as more than 130 new parking spaces.

Construction of the project requires a careful collaboration with the centre management as well as Newmarket Village tenants. Meticulous planning to minimise disruption to existing access, parking, shoppers and surrounding neighbours has been a key focus of our delivery. Working in a live retail environment can be testing to safety, quality and time management. With extensive experience working in operational environments, Hutchies is able to deliver the project to an extremely high standard for Reading and to the great benefit of shoppers and visitors.

Reading's Real Estate Australia and New Zealand managing director Matthew Bourke said the property had been a key asset for the company. “With the re-imagined Newmarket Village, we anticipate engaging with the surrounding neighbourhoods to create more of a ‘sense of place’ for our visitors,” he said.

“By enhancing the overall offerings at the centre, our goal is that Newmarket Village will become the destination for premium dining and entertainment in the area.”

Since beginning operations in 2005, our Newmarket property has been a key asset in our Australian portfolio. With this additional investment, we have the opportunity to create a flagship cinema complemented by a modern mix of food and beverage concepts, which we believe will create a more dynamic development for the Newmarket community.
