The Condabri Distribution Centre is part of the APLNG Upstream Phase One Gas Facilities project. Condabri Central is APLNG’s largest and most productive gas field region.  

The 80,000m² site was transformed from a greenfield site into the central supply chain and distribution centre of APLNG’s gas operations throughout the Surat Basin within the client’s critical time frame of 32 weeks for design, construction and completion of the facility.  

Hutchies undertook the design and construction of a 6000m² operations warehouse, modular offices, drivers’ rest room and amenities. Additionally, it included 80,000m² of fully fenced laydown area with 6 individual pads. The warehouse has storage capacity for over 4070 pallets, and a specialised climate control storeroom for the storage of seals and pumps. 

The project team, whilst managing the design, provided innovative solutions for effective end user management including floor treatment systems such as the Ashford Formula sealer to the warehouse floor. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art in-motion weigh bridge allows for weighing of heavy rigid vehicles in motion for maximum user efficiency. 

Throughout construction, considerable coordination was required to minimise disturbance to the surrounding operational facilities. Quality control was also paramount with in excess of 700 field inspection checklists generated and completed by the project team. Additionally, importance was placed on environmental controls as the overflows of all sediment basins created run-off into surrounding water streams which are used by neighbouring properties. 

The warehouse facility is estimated to hold up to $50M worth of parts at any one time, and has become a vital part of Origin Energy’s supply chain for their gas operations throughout Western Queensland and the Surat Basin. This project was delivered on budget and ahead of program, deeming the project an outstanding achievement and strengthening the close working relationship between APLNG and Hutchinson Builders.
