Hutchies delivered a major expansion to MainStream Aquaculture’s farming operations in Werribee, a short distance south of Melbourne. This project has made this facility the biggest of its kind in the world and included significant works to increase and modernise their existing biology production facilities.

MainStream Aquaculture is one of the world’s largest sustainable breeders of Barramundi. This project, known as the Reticulating Aquaculture System (RAS) Expansion, saw Hutchies worked closely with MainStream Aquaculture to design this significant production overhaul — including new buildings, work areas and offices, staff amenity and major operational services and equipment.

We built a new 37m x 112m warehouse style building which housed a 275m2 mezzanine level office and is home to 8 x 620,000 litre fish tanks. Major works for the associated water filtration and equipment, processing components and plant were all part of Hutchies’ contract and our team meticulously coordinated all of these various aspects during construction for a seamless integration.
