Weeks to build
We’ve been building on the Gold Coast for more than a century, so we’re excited to be working with the Destination Gold Coast Consortium to build the first Dorsett hotel in Australia. The consortium is comprised of The Star Entertainment Group and its Hong Kong-based partners Chow Tai Fook and Far East Consortium. Luxury hotels and residences are right up our alley, and this 53-storey tower will include the 4.5 star luxury hotel as well as residential apartments. The inclusion of retail space will make it the first mixed used precinct on Broadbeach Island. The Star Gold Coast will remain fully operational during construction of the new tower. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver without disruption to nearby operations.
Announced in August 2018, the development is scheduled for completion in early 2022 and will create 1,800 direct jobs filled by our own people and subcontractors. Construction activity will support the Gold Coast economy by sourcing local consultants and suppliers wherever possible, as well as utilising other local businesses.
The hotel will comprise 316 premium rooms, with the upper levels of the tower housing 423 one and two-bedroom residential apartments ranging in size from 54m2 to 109m2.
The tower’s open design takes advantage of the Gold Coast’s greatest natural resource — the weather. Suites will be flooded with natural light through glass walls and private outdoor balconies. The hotel’s recreational podium deck is designed to highlight the beauty of the surrounding area, featuring views of ocean waters, lush green hinterlands and the lights of the city. The deck will treat guests to a range of amenities including a pool, gym and other recreational facilities.
We anticipate The Star Stage 1 Tower will create 1800 direct jobs during construction. This includes Hutchies’ own people and our subcontractors. Construction activity will also support the local economy through consultants, suppliers and the local community throughout the project
