Last night Hutchies launched our much anticipated, months-long celebration of 105 years in business.

The team at our swanky new Coolangatta office was rapt to kick off the 105 year festivities with around 300 of our nearest and dearest. “It’s pretty cool to be the first cab off the rank for the 105th celebrations”, said Team Leader Paul Hart. “Some of the capital city offices might have bigger numbers, but out in the regions, we’ll always trump them with heart and spirit”, he joked, “after last night, we reckon we’ve set the bar pretty high!”.

As with any Hutchies shindig, the party boasted a range of pinball machines, Hutchies 105 merchandise, great live music, and plenty of good company. The highlight of the night was special guest speaker Wayne 'Rabbit' Bartholomew AM who regaled the crowd with stories of bringing surfing into the international sports arena, and how important Coolangatta has become as Australia's home of professional surfing. Later in the night guests retreated to the building basement for a dose of live punk rock thanks to Hutchies' very own Steve Morrow and his band, Twin City Riot, which saw Scott Hutchinson swinging from ceiling pipes and causing havoc.

Hutchies has been in the region since 2002, and has delivered more than $120M of projects, including the $20M refurbishment of Twin Towns services club in 2012. “We’ve been building around here since the late ‘90s”, says Levi Corby, who leads the team in partnership with Paul, “the move up to Coolangatta from Tweed Heads has been good for us. It’s great for the team to work in a new environment and we love being part of the action on Griffith Street and having the beach across the road.’ This year the team will deliver more than 25 projects across the region worth approximately $200M.

Hutchies’ 105th festivities will continue around the country for the rest of the year, culminating in the Melbourne office party in October. Each location will put its own spin on the celebration, treating staff, clients, and subcontractors to the special brand of fun and hospitality that Hutchies has become famous for.
