Hutchies’ 105th celebrations continued in Rocky with a fitting bash in the fancy new ‘Upper Level’ at Headricks Lane, with around 150 staff, clients and contractors.

Hutchies has a historic connection with Rockhampton, having worked in the region since we built the Berserker Street State School in 1916. Late in 1941 we also built the now iconic Rockhampton Town Hall. That project – a landmark building for the town – took two years and cost £50,000 to build. It was the beginning of a long association with the Central Queensland region. Hutchies went on to establish a physical presence in Rocky in 2010, and we currently have a permanent team of 25 in our Kent Street office.

“It was great to be able to thank our clients and reward the team and trusted suppliers,” said Kevin Whitaker, who leads Hutchies’ Rocky crew. “We all work hard, so it’s nice to get together and celebrate”.

Our guests couldn’t agree more …

Bruce and I just wanted to thank you and Hutchies for the invitation. We really enjoyed the night with the Rocky Hutchies crew and also the other subbies.

We’re pretty chuffed with our accomplishments in Rocky. We’ve done more than $90M of projects in the region, including works for Central Queensland University, and more recently the Blackwater Aquatic Centre, which has been nominated for a Queensland Master Builders award.

Regional projects are a core part of Hutchies’ business plan and we pride ourselves on supporting local businesses, wherever they are located. “We never bring in subbies from the big cities for regional projects if we can help it”, says Kevin, “that’s just how we operate.”

It hasn’t gone unnoticed by our business partners …

A strong building industry in this region makes a huge contribution to the quality of the community and it’s clear that you guys believe in that as we do. Looking forward to doing more quality work with you in the future.
