Hutchies had a great evening celebrating at the Australian Institute of Building's National Professional Excellence Awards. It's been a successful year for our teams and they are proud to have taken out four Professional Excellence awards and two High Commendations.

This year's event took place in Brisbane at the Emporium Hotel in Southbank, which Hutchies built in 2018. The night started with welcome drinks in the beautiful 1920's style Piano Bar, before everyone moved upstairs for the main event.

Hutchies is over the moon to have been presented with Professional Excellence awards in each of the Commercial Construction category price brackets. Jamie Washington's team was recognised for their work on N°1 Anzac Square, a complex city refurbishment and 6 storey glass atrium, connecting three different commercial office towers.

The extremely impressive, subtropical fit out for Rio Tinto's new 20,000m2 headquarters was awarded Professional Excellence. Located within the Midtown Centre in Brisbane's CBD, the project was undertaken as a second contract by Team Greg Crittall while constructing the building.

Renowned for revitalising Ipswich, Nicholas Street Precinct is a new community hub and commercial space. This award represents the first five portions of the project which will continue to overhaul the Ipswich we all know.

The Little Hall team was thrilled to be recognised with the Professional Excellence award for Sustainability, for their outstanding initiatives and efforts throughout construction and ongoing. Created for the University of Melbourne, the stylish student accommodation can home 669 pupils.

Constructed across two stages, the West End State School Expansion project was given a high commendation. Mitch Grimmer's team created this beautiful school as well as many strong relationships with the community they worked in.

Team Otis Towill was awarded a High Commendation for creating The Standard by Aria, a uniquely shaped residential building that soars above Fish Lane in South Brisbane.
