Hutchies is seeking an expression of interest from a self motivated and commercially minded Apprentice Development Lead with a passion for apprentice development, and experience in the Building & Construction industry. This key role will help shape the future of apprenticeship training at Hutchies, and lead the build out and retention of our numbers of emerging leaders to respond to the forecast surge in construction activity across Australia, including major infrastructure and significant commercial development projects.

This unique leadership role will partner with our hard working Hutchies Training team servicing our national construction teams, worksites and campus locations, on a full time basis based in South East Queensland.

#Opportunities
To respond to this critical need and expand our pool of capable apprentices ready to take up leadership positions across Hutchies sites and teams, the business is seeking to revitalise and further invest in it’s apprenticeship program to ensure the business is best prepared for the challenges ahead.
Depending on your experience and capability, responsibilities may include:
- Undertaking consultation internally and externally to inform and renew Hutchies apprenticeship program
- Partner with Hutchies Training team members to design an enhanced industry leading program, considering
- Recruitment process, talent sources, timing, batching of interview and pre-employment pathways
- Marketing of strong candidates internally
- Program revitalisation and structure, potential rotations with subcontractors
- Coaching and motivating trainers towards mentoring
- Activities and strategies to drive site buy in, and accountability
- Enhanced mentoring for apprentices and non-technical training opportunities
- Foster effective communication between clients, supervisors and participants
- Track apprenticeship program performance, including enrolment, completion, and retention rates
- Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on growth targets and outcomes
- Monitor funding opportunities and support applications for government incentives or grants
- Program brand and marketing (internal and external), industry networking and business development activities
- Identify emerging workforce trends and translate them into apprenticeship opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast workforce demand and align apprenticeship intake accordingly
#Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will ideally be an experienced tradesperson with strong people development and/or apprentice management experience, commercially minded with strong relationship and business development skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- A diverse construction background (preferably Commercial high-rise)
- Strong relationship-building and networking abilities
- A proactive, results-driven mindset
- Credibility in the construction industry
- Sound financial acumen, and a commercial mindset
- An understanding of employment and social drivers for the next generation of workers, and an ability to build rapport
- Sound knowledge of legislation, awards and Codes of Practice as they related to construction apprentices
- A strong knowledge of federal and state funding programs for apprenticeships and key stakeholders
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and have initiative when working independently
- A down to earth, fun, friendly and professional approach to your work
