This year, Hutchies won the Master Builders Far North Queensland 2025 Project of the Year Award for the Cairns Hospital Mental Health Unit.
Judges praised the project as a standout in both design and construction. Our team worked closely with hospital staff from day one, creating a prototype room that streamlined the build and improved outcomes.
Despite challenges like building next to a live hospital, heavy rainfall and even a cyclone, Hutchies delivered a three-level facility with 53 beds. Every detail reflects the quality craftsmanship and seamless finish we’re known for.
The new unit prioritises patient safety and wellbeing while meeting critical mental health needs for the region.
