Hutchies is on the lookout for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Contract Administrator / Cadet to join our hardworking team at our Toowong office on a permanent basis. This opportunity is ideal for someone currently studying at university and looking to gain real-world experience in the construction industry.

As a Junior Contract Administrator / Cadet, you’ll have the chance to shadow one of our experienced Contract Administrators, gaining valuable hands-on exposure to live projects and day-to-day operations. This team works predominantly across retail, industrial, and sports sectors, offering a diverse and dynamic learning environment.

You’ll also be invited to take part in our Hutchies Cadet Summer School Program, kicking off in November — designed to support your development and provide practical industry insights.

#Responsibilities

As a Junior Contact Administrator / Cadet, your main goal will be to support the successful delivery of construction projects while developing your knowledge of contract administration and project coordination.

This position involves assisting with project documentation, procurement processes, subcontractor engagement, and general administrative support across various stages of project delivery.

  • Assisting the Contracts Administrator with all sub-contract letting
  • Maintaining and managing variations, EOT, and procurement registers
  • Preparation of Subcontracts and associated Subcontract documentation
  • Processing invoices
  • Taking and issuing meeting minutes
  • Document control
  • Work closely with the project team, including site personnel
  • Undertake site visits once a week
  • Assist in defect management
  • Preparation of monthly reports

#Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction Management or a related field, or currently undertaking studies in this discipline
  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have initiative when working independently
  • Strong relationship building with all relevant stakeholders
  • A down to earth, fun, friendly and professional approach to your work
