PurchaseOrders(POs)&WorksOrders(WOs)
Hutchies uses Purchase Orders (POs) and Works Orders (WOs) to formally request goods and services from our vendors.
We’re modernising how we issue and manage these orders to make things quicker and easier for everyone. Our new digital POs and WOs are now available and can be issued on the spot—wherever our team has access to the tool.
We’re currently in a transition period. Both the traditional carbon copy books and the new digital versions are valid and in use.
All official digital POs and WOs are issued securely by J Hutchinson Pty Ltd.
If you’re unsure about an order or need help, we’re here to help.

#Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a PO / WO?
Purchase Orders (POs) and Works Orders (WOs) are formal documents with terms and conditions used by Hutchies to procure.
Are the old paper based POs / WOs still being used?
Yes. We’re gradually moving to digital, but both formats are valid.
What is the difference between a PO and a WO?
POs are for goods and materials. WOs are for labour or services (ie people working on site) and associated goods / materials.
Each has different terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before starting work. Your Hutchies contact will issue you the relevant order depending on your scope of work.
How do I know if this PO or WO is real?
If you’re unsure, check with us before supplying goods or services. We can help your verify any order.
How do I invoice Hutchies?
You must have a valid PO, WO or signed contract / agreement before invoicing Hutchies.
Your invoice must:
- Be addressed to J Hutchinson Pty Ltd T/A Hutchinson Builders
- Clearly state ‘Invoice’
- Include a valid Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Reference a valid Purchase Order (PO), Works Order (WO) or contract / agreement number from Hutchies
- State Goods & Services Tax (GST) if applicable
- If GST applies, the document must state ‘Tax Invoice’
Send your invoice to the official email listed on the order / contract.
How does Hutchies pay us?
Hutchies processes invoices twice a month — mid-month and end of month.
If it’s been more than 30 days, get in touch. Sometimes we need more info to process your invoice, so please check your email and respond quickly to avoid delays.
What if I receive a PO or WO but something looks wrong?
If any details on your order appear incorrect — such as the scope, pricing, or contact details — please get in touch with your Hutchies contact before proceeding. Do not action the order until it has been confirmed or reissued.
What happens if I receive a voided PO or WO?
If you receive a PO or WO that has been marked as void, it is no longer valid. Do not proceed with any work or supply. You should be notified by Hutchies if this occurs, but if in doubt, get in touch with your Hutchies contact to confirm.
I didn’t receive the Docusign email for my WO — what should I do?
Sometimes Docusign emails can land in spam or junk folders. Please check there first. To avoid this in future, mark Docusign emails as ‘not junk’ in your email system.
Do I need to sign anything for a WO?
Yes. Works Orders may be sent via Docusign for digital signature. This ensures both parties agree to the terms before work begins. If you haven’t received a signature request, please follow up with your Hutchies contact.
Where can I find the terms and conditions for POs and WOs?
Each PO or WO includes a link or attachment with the relevant terms and conditions. Please review these carefully before starting any work or supplying goods.
What if I don’t have access to the digital system?
You don’t need access to Hutchies’ internal systems to receive or action a digital PO or WO. Orders will be sent to your nominated email address on file with Hutchies. If you’re having trouble accessing or viewing them, contact us for help.
