Hutchies had a standout night at the 2026 Master Builders Queensland Brisbane Housing & Construction Awards, taking home major project awards and one of the night's most celebrated individual honours.

The teams’ success reflected the depth of talent across our business, from apprentices building their careers through to project teams delivering some of Queensland's most significant projects.

Apprentice of the Year honour for Bailey Caplick

Apprentice of the Year honour for Bailey Caplick

One of the biggest moments of the evening came when Bailey Caplick won The Industry School Apprentice of the Year Award.

The announcement drew plenty of applause and cheers from the five Hutchies tables in attendance.

Bailey is a carpentry apprentice working with the John Berlese team. Earlier this year, he was also recognised as the Third Year Apprentice Winner at the 2026 Hutchies Training Awards.

When accepting the award, Bailey displayed the same humility and maturity that have distinguished him throughout his apprenticeship. He took the opportunity to congratulate his fellow nominees, acknowledge the industry and thank the people who have supported him along the way.

"I really didn't expect this. I'd like to thank the organisers and congratulate the other nominees. I'm also grateful for the support of Luke Hinds, our Site Manager, and Anthony Stevens, my Project Manager, Greg Sang and Glenn Walker, who have all been great mentors throughout my apprenticeship. I wouldn't be where I am today without their support."

Bailey is a standout apprentice with a consistently high work rate. He takes ownership of his work and is exceptionally reliable. He demonstrates maturity beyond his experience and has stepped into informal leadership roles within the team. His attitude, initiative and accountability mark him as a future Hutchies leader.

"Bailey has approached his apprenticeship with enthusiasm, accountability and a genuine desire to improve. He consistently looks for opportunities to build his skills, take on greater responsibility and support those around him, both on project and through his training at Hutchies. His growth in confidence, capability and professionalism has been outstanding, and he has become a highly valued member of the team.

Luke Hinds has played an important role in that journey. Through ongoing mentorship, support and regular feedback, Luke has helped create the foundation for Bailey's continued development and success. Together, they represent the strength of our apprenticeship program and the future of our industry."
