The recently constructed Kingborough Community Hub is at the centre of the new Kingston Park development in Tasmania. The facility was built by our Hutchies Hobart team on the site of a former gymnasium, with the existing floor and footings being adapted to transform the old building into a community hub and cafe. Hutchies was stoked to be involved in the restoration and modernisation of The Capitol in Melbourne. This project represented the coming together of a 93 year old landmark, with our century old family-owned business, both of which hold a long and respected history. Last night Hutchies and Consolidated Properties celebrated the end of the financial year at the newly opened Fortitude Music Hall. We also chose this occasion to not only commemorate Consolidated Properties’ 40th anniversary, but to officially launch Hutchies 100 Year book ‘More Than The Truth: Hutchies’ Hundred Years’. We were privileged to have The Right Honourable, The Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Councillor Adrian Schrinner as our special guest of honour and speaker. Cheers to CPG and here’s to another successful year! #cpghutchies19 #hutchies #hutchinsonbuilders #hutchies1912 #consolidatedpropertiesgroup #consolidatedproperties #cpg #eofy #morethanthetruth #thefortitudemusichall #thefort #thefortbne #myvalleybne

#Repost @thefortbne ・・・ It's been over 15 years since beloved concert venue Festival Hall shut its doors, after hosting some of the world’s biggest acts from ACDC to The Beatles world tour in 1964. Opening tonight, The Fortitude Music Hall is set to fill the gap left in the hearts of music loving Brisbanites, bringing large international acts back to Brissy. Already set to take the stage in the coming year are The National, The Flaming Lips, Hermitude and many more. @thefortitudemusichall @thenational @hermitude — #thefortitudemusichall #thenational #hermitude #bne #brisbanelivemusic #festivalhall #TheFort #thefortbne #myvalleybne @myvalleybne

Sixteen years ago, Brisbane music lovers mourned the loss of Festival Hall. On Friday night, that hole in the heart of the city's music scene will finally be filled, with the Fortitude Music Hall set to open its doors to the public for the first time. For the duo behind the venue, Queensland builder Scott Hutchinson and ex-Powderfinger bassist John "JC" Collins, Friday could not come soon enough.

When Festival Hall was sold in 2003 to make way for an apartment block, the Queensland capital lost a much-loved music venue that had hosted the likes of the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and Nirvana.

We recently partnered with @trademutt to create our very own 'Hutchies Feel Good' shirts. These shirts represent Trademutt's mission in the industry, which is to tackle suicide head on by opening up conversations between tradies on site. Hutchies is fully behind this idea which is why we asked Trademutt to design our own version in Hutchies' colours. Big thanks to our Adina site for sharing this awesome shot! #startaconversation #thisisaconversationstarter #trademutt #hutchiesfeelgood #suicideprevention #suicideawareness #tiacs #suicide #menshealth #construction #constructionindustry #ruok

"All of my life in all of the jobs I’ve worked in, I’ve always tried to address mine and other people’s safety around me. I try to see things that could be occurring or might occur and prevent them by putting strategies in place before an incident happens. I believe whatever you walk past and don’t do anything about, you’re saying it’s okay. It doesn’t matter what it is, if you walk past it and don’t address it in any way, then you’re accepting whatever it is. Simple as that. When I’m not working, I’m usually out diving. I’ve always had a love for diving and it started at age 13. Along the way I’ve worked as a commercial diver, dive instructor and started my own dive business in Breakfast Creek, Byron Bay and Merimbula. One of my favorite spots is Beqa Reef Lagoon in Fuji where I swam with 20 to 50 bull sharks. I have learnt many valuable lessons from diving like planning and confidence in tasks that you take on. It’s important to plan what you’re going to do and be confident that when you commit to doing it, you can actually follow it through. You can equate that into the building side of things as well. You need a good CA, Site Manager, etc. You need a team to be able to put the task together. It’s fine for the builder to say “I built that project” but the reality is he didn’t build it on his own. He coordinated the building with the relevant people team-wise. To me that’s the biggest lesson diving taught me, you need to be confident in your own skills and ability but work as part of a team and to plan what you’re going to do." #humansofhutchies Maurie Vierow, Health & Safety Team Manager

Last weekend 18 of Hutchies' NSW keenest surfers descended upon Ulladulla's beaches for their annual Boardriders' competition and trip. Now in its 4th year, the competition sees teams of two compete against each other for the trophy. This year 5 of our NSW Team Leaders participated with Jayson Barnaby and his team coming out on top! It was a top weekend of surfing and beers, something Hutchies is very fond of! #surfing #surfingcompetition #ulladulla #humansofhutchies #hutchiessydney #hutchiesnsw #sydney #newsouthwales

"A near death experience put me out of the construction industry for 2 years. It wasn’t a work accident, it was a virus in my brain called Encephalitis that placed me in a coma for 2 weeks at Tweed Hospital. At the time it occurred I was working on a high rise doing formwork and when I was driving home I went into a confused and delirious state. That day I was saved by a complete stranger who thought I was having a stroke. When I woke up I was nursed back to health by my wife who was 6 months pregnant at the time with our third child. I have always lived life to the fullest but after that I was even more determined to get the credentials to become a safety officer. So after returning to work I backed myself and did the course which was all self-funded and on my annual leave. I think because I know you don’t get a next time, that’s a really important thing when I’m at work. Because I know that, I reduce a lot of accidents and injuries and I reckon I’ve saved a lot of lives over my years. You don’t see the injuries you prevent. I think that’s the most important part of the job." #humansofhutchies Steve Morrow, Safety & Environmental Manager
